Many students often ask, “Sir, what’s the most important area in Quant?”
The answer is simple: arithmetic and algebra.
In CAT 2024 Slot 1 alone, 16–17 questions were from just these two areas. That should tell you how crucial they are. The stronger your grip on these two topics, the higher your chances of cracking CAT.
Here’s what you must do:
Every single class question should be revised at least 3 times before the exam.
Topic tests must be revised at least once, and that too at a fast pace.
Past Year Questions (PYQs) should be done twice on your own and then revised with me two more times till they become second nature.
Last year too, I said the same—many students ignored it. But in CAT, the exact same PYQs came, sometimes with just numbers changed.
Whenever I update PYQs in test format, solve them as they are. No skipping.
That said, this doesn’t mean ignore other topics.
You still need to prepare 100% for everything. But don’t compromise on arithmetic and algebra just to say you’ve “completed the course” by rushing through modern math or other chapters.
If your algebra and arithmetic are weak, even a complete course won't help much.
Stay focused. Prioritize wisely.
